Syndicated

My pledge

Last updated: August 6, 2026

If you are here, there is a decent chance you got burned by a tracker that shut down on short notice and took years of your viewing history with it. Trusting the next one is a fair thing to hesitate over, especially one built by a single person. I am that person, so here is what I commit to, in writing, including what happens on the worst day.

No ads. Not later, not quietly.

Syndicated will never show you advertising, and I will never sell, rent, or share your viewing history with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics resellers. Your watch history is not a product I am holding back for a future business model. What the app collects and why is spelled out in the Privacy Policy.

Tracking your shows stays free

The core of the app stays free and unlimited: your library, watched episodes and rewatches, ratings, likes, lists, favorites, up next, upcoming, and episode notifications. There is no show limit waiting to appear, and no feature you rely on today will be moved behind a paywall tomorrow.

Syndicated does cost real money to run, so a paid tier may exist one day. If it does, it will be cosmetic and optional (things like alternate app icons and theme packs) or a straightforward tip jar for people who want to chip in. Importing your data and exporting your data are always free, no matter what.

Your data is yours, and you can take it with you

Export is built in from day one, not bolted on at the end. In the app, under Settings, you can download:

You can also import that complete export back into a fresh account, which means your backup is a real backup and not a souvenir. Deleting is just as direct: see how to delete your account.

If Syndicated ever has to shut down

I build and run Syndicated on my own. It is meant to last, and I have no plan to stop. But an app that asks you to log years of your life owes you a real answer about the end, not an awkward silence. So:

If Syndicated ever has to shut down, you get at least six months of notice, the app keeps working for all six, and export stays open until the final day.

You will hear it from me, early

Notice goes out in the app itself, by email to your account address, and publicly on this site and on the Syndicated accounts, at least six months before the service goes offline. The app will not simply stop working one morning, and you will not find out from a comment thread.

Nothing gets switched off early

During the notice period the app keeps working normally. I am not going to freeze it into a read-only shell on day one and call that six months. Export runs the entire time and stays available until the last day, so there is no window where you know it is ending but cannot get your history out.

Your data is deleted, never sold

After shutdown, your data is permanently deleted from the servers within 30 days. It is not sold, not auctioned as an asset, and not handed to a third party as part of any deal. If Syndicated is ever transferred to someone else, this pledge goes with it: the new operator honors these commitments, or you get the full notice period and your data is deleted rather than transferred.

The one exception, said plainly

Six months is what I control. There are a few things I do not: a court order, a metadata provider ending the license the app runs on, a payment or hosting provider cutting me off, or a serious personal emergency. If one of those forces a faster shutdown, I will say exactly what happened, give as much notice as I am able, and in no case less than 30 days with export open for all of it. I would rather commit to a floor I can actually hold than quietly hedge the whole promise.

Holding me to it

These are commitments about how Syndicated is run, and they are meant to be quoted back at me. The Terms of Service reference this page in the section on discontinuing the service. If anything in the app, or anything I say, ever contradicts what is written here, tell me: [email protected]. This page will change only to add commitments or to correct an error, and the date at the top will always say when.
